Bath time

Baby I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake - shake it off!

Bath time Shenanigans

Well Rigby got a much needed bath tonight. Although he didn't seem too happy to be there he did very well, and it made his coat super soft!

I was also pleased that I didn't find a single flea on him, which I had been a little concerned about since our last shelter pup was covered in them (I'm looking at you Scout!).

Rigs was a true gentleman and didn't have any problems with me cleaning his paws, ears/face, or tail and he didn't mind being picked up to be put in the tub.

It didn't hurt he got plenty of treats for being so good, and even more belly rubs once he was all dried off! I think the promise of belly rubs was the only reason he put up with my bath time singing, if we're being honest.

I forgot in my last post to say that we are fostering Rigby through the Austin Animal Center and he can be viewed on their page, and all adoption application/information can be found on their website:

http://www.austintexas.gov/department/animal-services

But Ryan and I are always happy to answer any question you may have, or find answers if we don't have one right away.

P.S. - I am unsure of his adoption fee (I'm not sure if he is classified as a puppy or adult) but will find out shortly and will be in touch!

Goodnight!

Meet Rigby!

 -------------RIGBY-------------

Recently (2 days ago to be exact) Ryan and I welcomed our very first foster pup, Rigby, into our home.

We are creating this blog in the hopes that it will help Mr. Rigby find his furr-ever family.

Rigby is a very energetic 8 month old Border Collie mix, who will need an active home with plenty of time outside to romp around. Rigby loves to meet new dogs and wants to play, play, play so may do best in a home with another friendly, confident dog. **We do not know how he will react to cats or children**

Rigs is also a chewer and is learning what is appropriate to chomp on and what is off limits. He does love squeaky toys, rope toys, and ice cubes. He also plays fetch, but can lose interest fairly quickly.

He walks well on a leash, and has done better since we got a chest harness, the ones that loop under the front legs. He does very well on runs! So if you are looking for a training partner, this is your guy!

Since he is so new to us, we are still learning more about this sweet boy. We do know his kennel card said he was owner surrendered, and he knows basic commands (sit, stay, down, heel) buut after a month at the shelter, a refresher course is needed! However, he is very smart and a quick learner, particularly when treats are involved!

Rigby wants to be a good boy, but needs a little direction after so long in the kennel! He just has so much energy he doesn't always know what to do with himself!

Ryan and I will post more pictures and updates as we get to know Rigs better! Please feel free to contact us with questions or comments- and PLEASE SHARE to help us find the cutie a home!
